The Doctor Has Spoken

I spent a good portion of my morning with my Orthopedic Surgeon. He informed me that I have a tear on the posterior horn of my Medial Meniscus and small tear on my Medial Collateral Ligament and some cartilage damage directly behind my patella (knee).

All of which will require surgery if I wish to lead a pain free existence. Because I am a believer in pain free existences I am electing to have the surgery. The surgeon also informed me that I would be out of action for a few days and should take it easy for the first week. After that I'll have another consult to see how the knee is progressing. Within six to eight weeks he informs me I should be able to engage in rebuilding the knee and its surrounding muscles. Now that has my attention, because I need to get my body back in shape. I am looking forward to playing spring soccer and getting my swag back...in addition to my waistline.

My big question is should I have the block (local anesthetic) or fully go under anesthesia. The block would allow me to see and possibly take pics of the surgery. Which I think would make for an interesting post. Now thats all dependent on the surgeon allowing me to do so. I'll find out more as the date approaches. Until then keep a brother (A Pontificating Brother) in your prayers.

  1. Full anesthesia! Get as many drugs as you can! Good luck my brother; I'm praying for you.

  2. Anesthesia! That's the best sleep, you don't remember ANYTHING! And then you'll rest good the rest of the day.
